What is a Doula?

The word "Doula" comes from the ancient greek word for "woman who serves."
This is exactly what a dou
la does! We support families throughout their fertility and parenthood journey.
A birth doula will provide emotional, physical, and spiritual support to the pregnant/laboring individual and offer follow up support in the early postpartum period.
A bereavement doula provides all these services and more to families suffering a miscarriage, stillbirth, or difficult or fatal diagnosis for their baby. We help in planning memorials, funerary services, providing physical and emotional care specific to your unique needs and situation, and act as a compassionate, professional support to answer any questions and encourage you to bond with your baby how you see fit and to begin to feel whole again, as a family.

A birth doula educates and encourages women to pursue the birth they dream of. No matter what type of birth or where it occurs, a birth doula's duty is to support you in your journey to parenthood.

What a doula is NOT

Doula's are NOT medical professionals. We are not to take the place of a medical provider such as obstetricians or midwives. We do not speak for you or come between you and your partner or care providers. Our sole purpose to emotional and physical support and guidance.
